3/8/09 Follow Up Regarding Freedom of Choice Act
In a recent bulletin, the Freedom Of Choice Act (FOCA) was addressed. If this bill is ever sent to the president for his signature and becomes law, it would nullify over 580 federal, state, and local laws that the pro-life movement has worked to pass these last several decades.
The latest news on FOCA from the Life Institute, Inc. is that the president will try to achieve the goals of FOCA in a less direct, controversial manner by “inserting amendments into various appropriation bills, to modify or reverse abortion restrictions one by one.” Life Issues Institute writes, “While there is probably enough pro-life strength to prevent passage of the total package in one piece, it is another question if one of these issues is buried in a must-pass appropriation bill.”
