William Roger Niehaus

Obituary: William (Bill) Roger Niehaus, 90, of Montgomery, Ohio, died peacefully surrounded by his family on August 15, 2022. Bill was born in Cincinnati to the late George and Lorine Niehaus. He was the beloved husband of 39 years to the late Marian Camille Martinson, and dear friend to the late Jean Ann Johns.
Bill is the loving father of Ted Niehaus (Lisa Smart), David Niehaus, Jennifer Wells, Tom Niehaus (Shawn Crutcher), Juliet Dunn (Donnie), and Natalie Gillespie (Matt) and dear brother of Dr. Dan (Sue) Niehaus, the late Judy Maier (John), and the late Carol Dawson (Mark).
“Poppy” will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Brandon, Christopher, Emma, Ariana, Moriah, Benjamin, Victoria, Brooke, Sam, Alex, Kacie, Alexa, Ashley, Ally, Luke, Paige, Marlow, Sullivan, and great grandchildren Owen and Parker.
After graduating from Purcell High School, Bill attended Xavier University and St. Louis University where he earned his Master’s Degree in physics while also serving as a U.S. Army Captain. Bill enjoyed playing baseball, football, and basketball. He was asked to play in the minor leagues.
Bill spent his career at Aeronca and BelCan as an aerospace engineer, and Scripps-Howard as a market research director. He worked on several NASA contracts during his career at Aeronca. One of these led to Bill creating a patent on development of the space rockets heat shields. He also held six other patents, including static tube picture development. After retiring as an engineer, Bill served many years working for H&R Block and Bass Pro Shops, and continued working into his late eighties.
Bill enjoyed serving as a member of Montgomery City Council and of the Montgomery Planning and Recreation Commission. He also served as President of the Cincinnati Maritime Modelers Boat Club.
Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, reading, building “ships in a bottle”, traveling to Northern Michigan, photography, listening to classical music, collecting lots of “stuff” for his various hobbies, volunteering for local elections for the Republican Party, and spending time with his family.
Above and beyond all of Bill’s professional accomplishments and service to the community, his legacy is his genuine kindness and humility, always putting others first and giving of his time to help his family and friends, living the true definition of a devout Catholic.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022, followed by a reception at Good Shepherd, 8815 East Kemper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249. Interment will be held in the summer of 2023 in Leelanau Township Cemetery, Northport, Michigan.

Harold John Nordeman

Obituary
Harold John Nordeman, age 89, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 4, 2022. Harold deeply loved his wife of 62 years, Gail Ann Nordeman (Glaser), his five daughters and five grandchildren. He lived his life guided by his unwavering Catholic faith and his love of family. Harold had a generous and kind heart and loved to tell stories and make people laugh. He enjoyed traveling with his family, playing baseball, camping, watching sports - especially his children and grandchildren, fishing with Tom on his boat, spending time in Florida and caring for his wife during her battle with Alzheimer's.
Harold was born May 29, 1933 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Harold Bernard and Thelma Nordeman (Ulm). He was the older brother of Jeanne Keenan (Nordeman). Harold graduated from Saint Clement School and Roger Bacon High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following the war, he became a lifetime member of Local 392 where he worked as a pipefitter and taught apprentices. Harold completed the United Association of Journeymen Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry instructor training at Purdue University. He also studied at the University of Cincinnati. In retirement, he assisted his wife with her counseling business.
Harold is survived by his daughters, Linda Nordeman, Donna (Paul) Boehm, Vivian (Ed) Shaw, Barbara (Jeff Williams) Nordeman, and Joyce Rivers; five grandchildren, Tyler Shaw, Andrew Shaw, Justin Nordeman, Michael Nordeman, and Kasey Rivers; extended family and numerous nieces and nephews. Harold is preceded in death by his wife, his daughter-in-law, Cecilia Haasis-Nordeman, his parents and sister.
Visitation & Funeral Service
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27 at Good Shepherd Church, 8815 E. Kemper Rd. with visitation at 9 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Chapel. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Monday, August 29 at 10 a.m.
