Lent begins on Wednesday, February 14, a day when we also celebrate Valentine’s Day. It may seem like the meanings of the two days clash, but both days remind us of love, sacrifice, and self-giving. They are days for us to express our love for others and our love for God. They are days when we can sacrifice for the good of someone else. They are days for us to imitate the words and actions of Jesus, our Good Shepherd.
Lent continues for several weeks after Ash Wednesday and provides us with time to examine our lives and draw closer to Jesus through prayer, fasting, and works of generosity. We strive to put Jesus at the center of our lives as we turn our hearts toward heaven. Lent is also a time for us to prepare for the celebration of the greatest event ever, the resurrection of Jesus on Easter.
Please join us for the Ash Wednesday Masses at 8:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. We will also have an Ash Wednesday Communion Service in church at 7:00 a.m. Ashes will be distributed at the Masses and at the Communion Service.
During Lent, please consider attending one or all of the following: Weekday Mass, Monday through Friday, our Communion Service, Monday through Saturday, and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament held in the Chapel every Thursday. Click the link below to view the following: the times of the Masses, Communion Services and Exposition. In addition to these opportunities, each Friday during Lent, we will pray the Stations of the Cross at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Also, by clicking the link below, you can view our scheduled times for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. If the times listed for the Sacrament of Reconciliation are not convenient, please feel free to contact Father Jack or me via the parish office at 513-489-8815 to receive this wonderful Sacrament.
May we never forget that Jesus won the greatest victory of all, the victory over sin and death. Give God the glory! May God graciously bless us throughout Lent and every day. Prayers your way, too.
