The mission of Good Shepherd’s Computer Recycling Ministry is to keep computer components out of landfills and to provide resources to schools, agencies, and individuals in need. The ministry collects donated desktop and laptop computers, wipe the hard drive clean, and donate the computers to schools, training centers, and individuals in need. Laptops, desktops/towers, flat-monitors, and all-in-one computers may be left in the Take-It or Leave-It room behind Activity Center B clearly labeled as donations to the Computer Recycling Ministry.
Please do notleave any of the following equipment in the Take-It or Leave-It room to be recycled.
Large monitors (big CRT)
Printers
PC accessories i.e. (keyboard, mouse, routers, cameras, speakers, wires/cables etc.)
As we become more mobile, students and staff members are now using almost all laptops as they study and work remotely. Consequently, this equipment is no longer in demand at the schools and charities where we were donating.
However, please don’t just throw this equipment into the trash where it will end up in the landfill. This equipment must be disposed of properly because there are some toxic chemicals in this equipment. Both Staples and Best Buy accept these items for recycling. See the companies’ websites or call the local store for details. PLEASE PROTECT OUR PLANET.
