The Communications Department of the Archdiocese released the following Press Release and its attachment announcing the “friendly wager” on the Super Bowl between Archbishop Schnurr and Archbishop Jose Gomez of Los Angeles. You can see how all Catholics of both Archdioceses can get involved in the fun, with the Catholic Education Foundations of both Archdioceses as the beneficiaries.

Archbishop Schnurr and Archbishop José H. Gomez of the
Archdiocese of Los Angeleshave placed a friendly wager on the outcome of Sunday’s Super Bowl. Archbishop Schnurr is offering a case of Cincinnati’s own
Graeter’s ice cream for his part in the wager, and on his end Archbishop Gomez is offering baked treats from
Porto’s Bakery in Los Angeles.
Catholics across the country are encouraged to get involved in this friendly exchange. Donations are being accepted to benefit each archdiocese’s Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) in the spirit of the big game. Starting at 7:30 Wednesday morning, visit
BishopsBigGame.com or follow #BishopsBigGame on social media to see how you can be a part of the excitement and donate to support Catholic school students in the name of your favorite team. The CEF of the “winning” archdiocese will receive 60% of the total fund and the CEF of the other archdiocese will receive 40% of the total fund. All proceeds collected will go directly to the respective CEFs, which provide needs-based tuition assistance for those attending Catholic schools. To get things started, each archbishop has made of a donation of $1,000 to the joint fund.
This friendly wager and CEF giving promotion will be announced by both archdioceses to the public Wednesday morning at 7:30 EST / 4:30 PST.
