Many people say, “I am not worthy to serve as a minister at Mass.”
I read in a book recently that,
“Ministry is entering with our human brokenness into communion with others and speaking a word of hope. The great paradox of ministry is that when we minister in our weakness, we receive from those to whom we go.”
(Excerpted from Spiritual Formation by Henri Nouwen).
So by the rite of our Baptism, Communion and Confirmation (which is needed only to distribute Communion), God calls us to be full active conscious participants of the Mass. This requires us to step up for the Lord and serve in whatever capacity we can. I encourage you to talk to someone while at Mass who is doing a ministry that you may be interested in. If you are interested in being an Usher, any Usher can train you before or after Mass. Gift Bearers can also be trained at Mass by Deacon Steve.
