The Sacristan is considered the team leader for the Liturgy Ministers.
The Sacristan is responsible for the continuous flow of the worship experience, and is considered the team leader for the Liturgy Ministers. Sacristans arrive 25 minutes before Mass and usually stay for about ten minutes after Mass in order to set up and take down the materials necessary for saying Mass.
The Sacristan assures that the Announcer, Lector(s), and Gift Bearers are present and directs the Gift Bearers during Mass setup. Sacristans must have an understanding of the flow of the Mass, possess some management skills and participate in individualized training with the Director of Liturgical Ministries. Sacristans are also trained as Eucharistic Ministers.
Time commitment: Twice per month at Mass of choice.
Meeting times: Initial training, refresher as needed.
